How Alice works (in a nutshell)

Alice is a pretax commuter benefit that runs automatically in the background of your paycheck. Here is the whole thing.

Onboarding

Your employer sets up connections to payroll and to their shift-scheduling system once. Most major payroll providers are supported. After that initial setup, the employer side is hands-off.

Enrollment

Year-round, no open-enrollment window. Connect your own credit or debit cards, request Alice Card (the Visa commercial card), or do both. No costs, no forms, no receipts.

Each pay period

Alice scans your connected cards for eligible parking and transit and uses Alice Card transactions directly. Your pretax commuter deduction is set each pay period based on what you actually spent. No use-it-or-lose-it pot, no surprise leftovers.

Most frontline employees see roughly 20% in "cash back" on eligible commuter spending — actual savings depend on your tax situation.

Cost-neutral for your employer

Your employer's only fee equals the employer payroll-tax savings they get from your pretax deductions. The fee equals the savings, so it nets to $0 out-of-pocket. No per-employee-per-month fees, no card shipment fees, no minimum fees. Your employer offers Alice and you keep more of what you make.
