Why is my Alice Card not working?

Your Alice Card may be declined if you reach your monthly limit, use it at a store that isn't a transit or parking provider, or have an expired card. You can check your account status through your employee dashboard.

What to check

  1. Log in to your Alice dashboard to check your available balance.
  2. Verify that your transit or parking purchase does not exceed the 2026 IRS monthly commuter limit of $340.
  3. Confirm that you are using the card at an approved transit or parking provider.
  4. Check the expiration date on the front of your physical Alice Card.

Why cards get declined

Your Alice Card is a Visa commercial credit card tied to your pretax commuter benefits. It only works at merchants coded as transit or parking providers, such as local subway systems, bus lines, or public parking lots.

If your card fails, it is usually because the purchase isn't eligible, or you have already spent up to the monthly IRS limit. For 2026, the maximum pretax amount you can spend is $340 per month for transit and $340 per month for parking. Purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, or convenience counters will always be declined.
