Alice Card was not accepted at OMNY


OMNY is the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (MTA) new contactless fare payment system in New York City.

Sometimes OMNY chooses to temporarily block use of a credit card, debit card, or Alice Card.

Typically, the error at the OMNY screen at the turnstile reads: "Card Not Accepted" and may look like this at the turnstile:

This is not a decline from Alice Card.

  • Alice Card texts you if the decline came from us, with the reason for the decline.
  • If you don't receive a text, this may the charge was not sent to us and was blocked by OMNY.

Log into your OMNY account at https://omny.info/signin to fix the issue with your card.

OMNY can suspended your use of Alice Card temporarily. Alice does not have information on the reason OMNY blocked your Alice Card.


If your card is declined multiple times at the turnstile, OMNY may block you from using that card again until you reach out to them or log in, below, to verify your card with them.
