Why was my Alice Card not accepted at OMNY?
A "Card Not Accepted" message at an OMNY reader is a block from OMNY, not a decline from Alice. If Alice declines a charge, we text you the reason. To clear an OMNY block, sign in to your OMNY account and verify your card.
OMNY is the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (MTA) contactless fare payment system in New York City. Sometimes OMNY does not accept a credit card, debit card, or Alice Card. The error on the reader at the turnstile usually reads "Card Not Accepted" and looks like this:

How to tell where the decline came from
- If the decline came from Alice, we text you with the reason.
- If you don't get a text, the charge was probably blocked by OMNY before it reached us.
Why OMNY blocks a card
OMNY can suspend your Alice Card temporarily. Alice does not have information on why OMNY blocked your card.
If your card is declined several times at the turnstile, OMNY may block that card until you sign in to your OMNY account or call them to verify it.
To clear the block, sign in to your OMNY account and verify your Alice Card.
